Global Circular Fashion Forum: Annual Exchange on Upstream Circularity
This recorded online event explores forthcoming legislation, industry progress, and ambitions related to circularity, as well as the challenges faced by the fashion industry and how they can be overcome. It highlights case studies from the GCFF’s Circular Fashion Partnerships in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, presenting opportunities for participation within the ever-evolving supply chain landscape. The event is relevant for stakeholders across the circular value chain and those interested in learning more about it.
Stina Billinger is a Policy and Sustainability expert with a background in leadership roles ranging from State Secretary for the Swedish Government to Head of Sustainability in the financial sector. I am currently leading the Policy and Sustainability team in Syre and serving on the board of Wateraid and the Climate research institute CICERO.
Since 2021 Mark Draeck acts as the Chief Technical Advisor on the EU and Finland funded SWITCH2CE project to support circular economy practices in the plastic, textile and ICT value chains, with country focus on Bangladesh, Egypt and Morocco. Draeck joined UNIDO in Vienna, Austria in 2010 as an Industrial Development Officer in the Department of Energy, and managed a portfolio of technical cooperation projects in Africa, Asia, MENA and Eastern Europe on renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency practices, clean technology innovation, electric mobility and sustainable cities. Before joining UNIDO, he worked as an Energy Policy Advisor for the Flemish Government in Brussels, Belgium, and as a Carbon Group Manager in the consulting sector in London, UK. Draeck holds a Master in Biological Sciences from the University of Leuven, a degree in Environmental Management from Ghent University, and an MBA certificate from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
Alexander Granberg is the Recycling and Innovation Materials Manager within BESTSELLER’s Sustainable Materials & Innovation Team. In this role, he actively oversees various projects, including the pivotal SWITCH2CE initiative, which aims to enhance sustainability in the fashion industry in Bangladesh. With a keen specialization in fashion and textiles, Alexander brings a knowledge from his background in business economics. His commitment to sustainable practices and innovative solutions has been a driving force in his career, and he has contributed to BESTSELLER’s mission for over nine years.
Dr. Quan Nguyễn Hồng is currently an associate professor at the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh city (VNU-HCM). He has a special interest in solving environmental related issues based on inter/trans-disciplinary study and by a strong partnership among academia-industry-government. He has been working in environmental hydrology (e.g. saline intrusion, flood/drought, water pollution) in Vietnam over the past 20 years and expanded his expertise in other disciplines e.g. climate change adaptation/mitigation, circular economy, socio-ecological system, sustainability science. He has published actively at various (inter-)national journals, conferences/workshops including (co-) authored nearly 100 ISI/Scopus indexed articles (including top-tier ones e.g. Nature, Sustainable development, Sustainable Cities and Society, Science of The Total Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production). He currently serves as a member of the Editorial board of Circular Economy and Sustainability (Springer) Frontier – Sustainability, section Circular Economy; and member of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Global Circularity Protocol for Business.
Basrie Kamba is a seasoned professional with over 22 years of experience in managing and delivering strategic initiatives across various industries. His expertise spans ESG commitments, policy and regulatory frameworks, environmental and social governance, community engagement, corporate communications, licensing, security, and managing key non-technical risks. Throughout his career, Basrie has held significant roles at renowned companies such as BP, BP Indonesia, Talisman Indonesia, INCO/Vale Indonesia, and APRIL/APR (RGE Group). His professional footprint covers diverse regions in Indonesia, including Papua/West Papua, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Jakarta, West Java, Jambi, East Kalimantan, Aceh, and Riau. Before transitioning into corporate roles, Basrie dedicated 12 years as a journalist and editor at The Jakarta Post. He also spent three years as a senior public affairs consultant, honing his skills in strategic communication and stakeholder engagement.
Mr Edwin Keh is the Advisor of The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel. He also teaches supply chain operations in the Operations, Information and Decisions Department of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Until April 2010 Keh was the SVP COO of Wal-Mart Global Procurement. Prior to Wal-Mart he managed a consulting group that has done work for companies on supply chain, manufacturing, and product design. He co-founded the Consortium for Operational Excellence in Greater China (COER GC) sponsored by the Wharton School and Tsinghua University. Keh had a career as senior executive with several international consumer goods and retail companies. He also worked for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.He is on the advisory board of multiple social enterprises, research organizations, and NGOs and served on the Board of Whittier College, CA and the Expert Panel of H&M Foundation’s Global Change Award. He was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2020 by the HKSAR Government for his research work during the pandemic. He was named “Asia’s Most Influential” 2022 by Tatler, the best of Top 50 Innovative Retail Leaders by Inside Retail Hong Kong in 2019 and is on the Debrett’s Hong Kong 100 as one of the most influential people in Technology and Digital sector. He is a recipient of the Production and Operations Management Society’s Excellence in Production and Operations Management Practice Award and holds over 30 IPs and most have won global invention awards.
Vidiya Amrit Khan, Deputy Managing Director of Desh Group of Companies, the parent company of Desh Garments Ltd., Bangladesh’s first 100% export-oriented RMG factory established in 1977 by her father, the late M. Noorul Quader, through a joint venture with South Korea’s Daewoo Corporation. She is a former Director of the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) (2013–2023) and leads circularity projects at BGMEA, notably the SWITCH2CE project. Additionally. Ms. Vidiya pursued her education at Roedean School, Brighton, UK, followed by a law degree from King’s College London. She completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law and qualified as a Barrister-at-Law in 2004. Her career reflects a blend of legal expertise and a strong commitment in sustainability and circularity to advancing Bangladesh’s garment sector on both national and international platforms.
Sokchea Lay is Sustainability Supply Chain Development Advisor at GIZ, where he focuses on advancing textile waste circularity in Cambodia. With over a decade of experience in social and environmental sustainability within the garment sector, he has worked with major brands such as H&M and C&A, specializing in compliance and sustainability practices. Sokchea's expertise encompasses capacity building, waste management, and fostering partnerships among stakeholders to promote circularity within the industry. He holds certifications in ISO 14001 and various sustainability methodologies. Committed to transforming industry standards, Sokchea is dedicated to driving positive change and enhancing textile waste circularity and recycling efforts in Cambodia.
Mira Nagy is the Implementation Manager for the Viet Nam component of the global project “Go Circular” funded by the German Government. In Viet Nam, Go Circular works with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to promote circular business models. With a background in ecological economics, Mira has been working for GIZ for over 6 years on the topics of circular economy, sustainable waste management, and resource efficiency. Among others, she worked on the development of GIZ’s service offering for marine litter prevention, followed the negotiations for an international treaty on plastics and developed GIZ’s position on plastics credits. With Go Circular in Viet Nam, she is keen to support businesses to transition to a circular economy, not just in plastics but also in other manufacturing sectors such as textiles, as well as to show the potential of circular solutions beyond recycling.
Phoebe Nguyen is a Senior Environmental Executive at Primark, leading environmental sustainability programs across the supply chain in Southeast Asia region. With a solid background in environmental technology and over eight years of experience, she brings expertise in environmental management from both manufacturer and brand perspectives, with a focus on sustainable practices in the textile and fashion supply chains. Guided by Primark’s commitment to environmental compliance and the circular economy, Phoebe drives regional collaborations with industry stakeholders, spearheading impactful initiatives to reduce textile waste and advance textile-to-textile recycling, promoting a more sustainable supply chain. Dedicated to environmental stewardship, she is passionate about shaping the future of fashion through innovative and circular solutions.
Owen Su is the HR and compliance manager at HUMBLE APPAREL MANUFACTURING CO., LTD. , where he oversees internal audit, risk management , training program planning , social compliance management with 4years experience , he also worked in different position in garment sector before such as Merchandiser /ADIDAS Certified Technician(CFT) /Cutting Supervisor/Raw Material Warehouse Supervisor with 11 years experience. In 2024 from February to August 2024, he joined implementation of GIZ textile waste segregation and recycling project which initiative by Brand PRIMARK that make him get more knowledge and experience how to conduct the waste management and make his country with good environment. For education background, Mr. Owen Su has completed and get certification grade 12 from TUON FA Chinese school.
Camilla Morandi is an Impact Programme Manager at Global Fashion Agenda, responsible for developing and coordinating impact programmes such as the Renewable Energy Initiative (REI), the Gender Pay Gap Programme (GPGP) and the Circular Fashion Partnerships (CFP). Her responsibilities also include implementing effective management processes, actively engaging industry stakeholders and managing grants. Prior to joining Global Fashion Agenda, Morandi worked as sustainability consultant to drive various companies’ sustainability strategy. Driven by her passion for the fashion industry and the urgency of sustainability action, she dedicated years to working in the industry, managing environmental and gender equality projects in luxury and premium fashion brands Bottega Veneta and Scotch & Soda. Morandi holds a Master’s Degree in International Development Studies, with international experience researching the Indian textile sector.
Marta is Public Affairs Manager at Global Fashion Agenda. Her responsibilities include managing and supporting the planning and execution of policy activities, co-developing content for the Global Fashion Summit program, and researching and providing recommendations on key policies impacting textiles. In addition, Marta also supports PR and strategic communications efforts, translating complex political and legislative initiatives impacting fashion sustainability, and building relationships with government officials, trade associations, NGOs, and other influential organisations to anticipate risks and opportunities. Before joining Global Fashion Agenda, she worked as a Public Affairs Consultant for Vinces Consulting and as an EU Policy Advisor for the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Brussels. Finally, Marta holds an LL.M. in European and International Business Law from Leiden University and a dual degree in Law and International Relations from Universidad Pontificia Comillas, ICADE.
Sonia Hylling is the Impact Programme Manager at Global Fashion Agenda; her role is to develop further and coordinate GFA's impact programs, such as the Renewable Energy Initiative (REI), Gender Pay Gap Programme (GPGP) and Circular Fashion Partnerships (CFP). Furthermore, her responsibilities extend to implementing effective management processes, monitoring partner relationships, and ensuring impactful stakeholder management. Prior to joining Global Fashion Agenda, Hylling gained expertise in strategic projects across various environments, ranging from luxury fashion brands to startups and NGOs with a focus on circularity and sustainable supply chains. Hylling holds a master's degree in luxury fashion management and has international experience from living and working in Paris, New York, and Stockholm.
