Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Impact Officer with experience from the international fashion industry and deep knowledge of sustainability in fashion, to lead the organisation’s thought leadership and content work.

The position is part of the executive leadership team with direct report to the Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate is based in Copenhagen, however more flexible arrangements can be made for the right candidate.

About Global Fashion Agenda and the role

Global Fashion Agenda is a non-profit organisation that fosters industry collaboration on sustainability in fashion to drive impact. With the vision of a net positive fashion industry, it accelerates action by mobilising, inspiring and educating all stakeholders.

The organisation has been leading the movement since 2009 and is behind the renowned international forum on sustainability in fashion, Global Fashion Summit (formerly known as Copenhagen Fashion Summit), the Innovation Forum, thought leadership publications including Fashion CEO Agenda and Fashion on Climate and impact programmes including the Circular Fashion Partnership.

The candidate will have a tremendous opportunity to further develop the newly adopted GFA strategy and translating it into action, while leading and working in close partnership with a dedicated, talented, international team. The Chief Impact Officer serves a crucial role in driving GFA’s thought leadership and position on key fashion sustainability topics.

Key Responsibilities

Take part in the Executive Team to steer the overall direction of the organization

Lead GFA’s content engagement with the GFA Steering Committee comprised of our 8-10 strategic partners from the fashion industry to align and develop key sustainability and impact topics for GFA to address. Work closely with GFA´s knowledge partner McKinsey to develop content that advances the state of the art.

Lead GFAs Impact Programmes and directing interaction with associated stakeholders, including

the Fashion CEO Agenda co-developed with the GFA Steering Committee that sets out the sustainability goals and priorities for the fashion industry

the GFA annual report that measures and reports the fashion industry’s progress against the Fashion CEO Agenda in collaboration with our data partner

the Circular Fashion Partnership, our local, hands-on initiative that aims to increase recycling of post-industrial textile waste in manufacturing countries, including managing the expansion of the programme to additional countries

Key research programmes on other GFA priorities such as climate change, circularity and better wage systems

Cooperate to the development of the GFA Academy which aims to strengthen and broaden the sustainability knowledge base of industry stakeholders, including the direction of master classes, roundtables, and explainers

Impact the content development of the annual Global Fashion Summit, the most significant event on sustainability in the global fashion industry, including direction of the Summit programme

Foster relationships with key international stakeholders as well as ensure GFA remains engaged with significant industry developments

 

Key qualifications and skills

Significant work experience on sustainability with a strong track record of impactful and pioneering content direction, including work in the international fashion industry. The ideal candidate also has experience from working in the non-profit sector.

Relevant graduate or post-graduate degree or qualification

Deep knowledge of sustainability topics in the international fashion industry

Solid business and stakeholder network in the international fashion industry including connections with businesses, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders

Proven leadership and team management experience and skills

Proven partnership and stakeholder management experience and skills

Proven fundraising experience and skills, either through direct experience or through management of relevant employees

Proficiency in system thinking, including a holistic understanding of topics within both social and environmental sustainability

Qualities, personal style and approach

A collaborative, and can-do attitude to work

The ability to thrive in a flexible and dynamic workplace

Strong drive and ambition in driving the sustainability agenda in fashion

Experience in leading and undertaking research on sustainability topics

Excellent writing and communication skills

Fluency in English (writing and speaking) is a must; fluency in another language is a plus
