What is GFA Academy?
Through educational platforms and community knowledge sharing, Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) Academy supports the learning and implementation of sustainability knowledge, tools, and solutions for industry stakeholders. Due to the increasing complexity in the sustainability vocabulary and an ever-changing landscape of accessible innovations and new technology, GFA Academy aims to become the global sustainability education convener to push the industry forward with the application of best practices. We will accomplish this by creating and facilitating educational material in collaboration with relevant partners and by demonstrating the practical application of impactful industry knowledge through actionable initiatives.
INNOVATION FORUM
The Innovation Forum presents a curated community of the world’s leading sustainable solutions and connects them to fashion brands and retailers to drive meaningful transformation. GFA Academy work to bring on board Innovation Forum members to cover the entire value chain – from innovative materials to end-of-use solutions. Through various activities and networking opportunities facilitated by GFA Academy throughout the year, Innovation Forum members are being connected with the broader fashion industry to nurture new ideas and stimulate the market.
TRAILBLAZER PROGRAMME
Identifying fashion’s most promising early-stage innovators and supporting them on their journey to scale.
Trailblazer Programme, presented by GFA & PDS Ventures, is seeking promising early-stage innovators who are working to accelerate the transformation of the fashion and textile industry with planet positive solutions. One winning company will receive an equity investment of up to $200,000 in addition to commercial and operational support to help bring the innovation to scale.
MASTERCLASSES
GFA Academy facilitates learning opportunities for the industry and consumers interested in advancing their sustainability knowledge. Exploring a wide range of topics, from technical supply chain nuances to redesigning fashion products, GFA Academy focuses on the education of systems and services with earth and humanity in mind.
GFA DESIGNER CHALLENGE
GFA Academy invites brands and their Creative Directors to challenge the status quo and work in collaboration with a sustainable solution provider as part of the GFA Designer Challenge. They follow the Creative Directors and their sustainable design process from original idea to final product; matching style and ingenuity with supercharged tech solutions and inspires industry stakeholders to follow along on the journey that benefits both people and planet.
NEXT GEN ASSEMBLY
Formerly the Youth Fashion Summit, GFA Academy’s Next Gen Assembly convenes talented students and young professionals in an impactful advocacy programme, enabling the next generation to gain access to the industry, have their voices heard and ideas nurtured.
Through the programme activities, Next Gen Assembly is supported in developing advocacy and communications skills to foster their development as sustainability changemakers.
FASHION REDRESSED
The digital film series: Fashion Redressed reveals the inspirations and innovations that will sway trends and raise awareness of the ideas designing the future of fashion.
Fashion Redressed is presented by the Global Fashion Agenda and made up of films for organisations from across the fashion and textiles industries, produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, the creative content division of BBC Studios.
