AT GLOBAL FASHION AGENDA & GLOBAL FASHION SUMMIT

As an organisation founded and headquartered in Denmark, our internship policy aligns with the Danish policy whereby students receive ECTS points when carrying out an internship as part of their studies to support their development while they continue to be covered by a Danish study grant during their internship. As such, GFA interns gain an acknowledgement of 3,000 DKK per month with a maximum of 15,000 DKK for internships of 5-6 months‘ duration and 10,000 DKK for internships of 3-4 months‘ duration, which they receive at the end of the internship period. While we welcome internship applications from outside of Denmark, the gratuity remains consistent with Danish policy.

You will assist the Public Affairs Team at Global Fashion Agenda.  At GFA we envision a policy framework where legislative and policy initiatives incentivise and appropriately support the fashion industry to become circular and thus more sustainable. Global Fashion Agenda proactively advocates for policy changes and supportive measures that reinforce sustainability targets and prompt policymakers to take informed action to foster necessary change. Our goal is to convene and connect relevant policymakers with fashion industry decision-makers in a collaborative effort to effectively accelerate the fashion industry’s sustainability performance. We aim to reach this goal by educating policymakers about the issues at hand and by ensuring policy developments provide support to the industry’s sustainability efforts.

As a Public Affairs Assistant (intern), you will be trusted with areas across the planning and execution of our global policy engagement strategy.

Assignments

  • Assist in the planning and execution of policy activities as part of GFA´s policy engagement strategy (Including in the framework of the forthcoming Global Fashion Summit International Edition 2024, Climate Week and COP) and around GFA´s Impact initiatives (Circular Fashion Partnership, Global Circular Fashion Forum, GFA Monitor, etc.).
  • Assist in the monitoring of EU/other funding opportunities around fashion and sustainability.
  • Participate in events, webinars, and other formats to keep up to date on policy developments.
  • Assist in the making of the bi-monthly public affairs newsletter.
  • Assist in the work around the European Commission Pact for Skills.
  • Research and monitoring key policies impacting textiles (i.e., waste, ecodesign, transparency, recycling innovation, overproduction).
  • Help in the update of stakeholder/initiatives mappings and communication material.
  • Support the Public Affairs team in any ad hoc tasks such as setting up meetings, PPTs, etc.
  • Assist with office tasks together with the organisation’s other interns and student workers.

 

You have…

  • A solid knowledge of global public policies (preferably gained through a previous or an ongoing relevant degree).
  • A good understanding of EU policymaking and institutions.
  • Experience in deciphering and synthesizing complex political and legislative texts.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Fluency in English, in particular excellent writing skills.
  • Skills to interact and engage with external stakeholders diplomatically.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Interest in working in a fast-paced, dynamic, challenging and team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with project management tools is a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

You will assist the Communications Team which is responsible for communicating all Global Fashion Agenda initiatives, including its thought leadership publications, impact initiatives and the leading international forum on sustainability in fashion, Global Fashion Summit. As Communications Intern, you will have a specific focus on supporting the PR activities whilst also assisting the team with writing tasks and general communications activities.

ASSIGNMENTS

 

  • Assist with media outreach and pitching
  • Support incoming press requests
  • Maintain the press database and coverage reporting
  • Help to research and write articles for the GFA website on key sustainability topics and news
  • Support the creation of newsletters – drafting texts, selecting images, setting up the newsletter in MailChimp
  • Assist with uploading content to web and website graphics (sections: news, employee profiles, press, speakers/ advisers etc.)
  • Support community management on social media
  • Support the Digital Communications coordinator in content capture for GFA social media platforms
  • Support the team in any ad hoc duties and internal administration support
  • Assist with office tasks together with the organisation’s other interns

  • Knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign is a plus

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Controller to meticulously oversee and manage all financial aspects related to our ongoing work as a non-profit multi-stakeholder initiative, ensuring accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting as well as strategic alignment with the organisation’s financial activities and impact related objectives.

The Controller will play a key role in managing all aspects of accounting, financial planning, and analysis and involves collaborating closely with all teams to optimize costs, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, ultimately contributing to the financial health and success of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Referring directly to the COO, the right candidate will:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial planning and reporting in accordance with company policies and expectations from the Board our Directors.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making by executive management.
  • Coordinate and oversee external audits and tax filings.

Bookkeeping, monthly reports and payroll services are currently provided by EY and depending on qualifications the Controller will work with the CEO to find the right division of labour going forward and which service provider(s) to engage with to sufficiently deliver on responsibilities.

Key qualifications and skills

The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within accounting or finance
  • Previous experience in controlling/payroll management is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Excel, accounting and HR information systems (current systems/platforms include Economic, Zenegy, CorpayOne and Pleo)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • A “Yes We Can” mentality, optimistic, independent and problem-solving attitude
  • Passion for and understanding of the fashion industry, sustainability and circularity
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing) – additional languages are a plus

About the role

Global Fashion Agenda is seeking a experienced sales-driven new team member who will play a pivotal role in securing financial and impactful partnerships making it possible to continuously accelerate the fashion industry towards more environmentally and socially sustainable and circular systems. GFA has been leading the movement since 2009 and presents the renowned international forum on sustainability in fashion, Global Fashion Summit (GFS) in core fashion regions around the world.

As the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in generating and cultivating new and current sponsorships and partnerships to secure growth for the organisation to reach its mission towards accelerating impact to create a net positive fashion industry.

Key Responsibilities

Referring to the Director of Partnerships and Development, the right candidate will:

  • Create lead generation, setting up and leading meetings for new partners, innovators and sponsors of the Summit
  • Continuous strategic prospecting to identify and engage potential sponsors, fostering partnerships with GFA across various projects as part of GFS, Circular Fashion Partnership, Innovation Forum and more
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with GFA supporters to involve them appropriately in fundraising efforts
  • Prospecting and converting existing or previous partnerships of GFA projects into GFA partnerships
  • End-to-end ownership of fundraising (incl. research, application writing, relationship building, developing sponsorship pitches, and reporting)
  • Management of sponsor and partner relationships and expectations to ensure alignment throughout the project and mutual satisfaction
  • Facilitation of internal stakeholder engagement, fostering cross-team and interdepartmental alignment on all sponsorship/partnership related initiatives and responsibilities
