As Copenhagen Fashion Week hosts its Spring/Summer 2027 season, it does so not only by celebrating its twentieth anniversary, but by reinforcing Copenhagen’s position as one of the world’s leading fashion capitals. Over the past two decades, Copenhagen has built a distinctive identity—one where creativity, business and sustainability are not competing priorities, but mutually reinforcing strengths.
Today, Copenhagen Fashion Week stands as one of the clearest examples of how a fashion week can shape industry direction. Under the leadership of CEO Cecilie Thorsmark, its Sustainability Requirements continue to demonstrate that ambitious standards and commercial relevance can go hand in hand, and that sustainability can be embedded into the fabric of a global fashion platform.
This milestone also celebrates the participating designers and brands bringing the week to life. Their creativity, craftsmanship and commitment to pushing fashion forward are at the heart of Copenhagen Fashion Week’s continued success. For Global Fashion Agenda (GFA), which proudly shares its home city with Copenhagen Fashion Week, this leadership is especially meaningful. We have witnessed first-hand the determination, collaboration and commitment that have made Copenhagen an international reference point for sustainable fashion. We are proud of what Copenhagen Fashion Week has achieved and of the example it continues to set for the wider industry.
At GFA, we want to see every fashion ecosystem—from the world’s largest industry hubs to the less visible creative communities—contribute to a fashion industry that is regenerative, resilient and ultimately net positive. Achieving this transformation will require collective action across markets, geographies and organisations.
As Copenhagen Fashion Week celebrates this important milestone, we congratulate the entire team on two decades of leadership and continued ambition. We look forward to continuing our collaboration, supporting one another’s work and helping ensure Copenhagen remains at the forefront of fashion’s sustainable transformation.
